COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE) and Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) courses will help students develop and improve
their English skills with regular and continuous tests. They are intensive language course with the main purpose to demonstrate that students are able to live and work or study in an English-speaking country. They may lead students to take the exams in one of the 130 test centres around the world or they may be used by students to boost their English skills in a very in-depth way.

FCE

  • Levels: Intermediate to Advanced
  • Class hours: 20 contact hours
  • Duration: 10 weeks per level
  • Class size: Maximum 18 students
  • Intake: every Monday
  • English entry requirement: Complete Intermediate level (IELTS 5) or above or verifiable results of a standardised English test or the SMEAG Placement test
  • Assessments: Weekly revision tests and structured teacher feedback based on academic progress.

The Cambridge First Certificate in English course is an Upper intermediate level course that will challenge students and will enrich their English skills with regular and continuous tests. FCE is an intensive language course that can be used by dedicated students to refine their language awareness and reach a high level of English competency.

    • The course runs over 20 hours in-class per week and homework review (optional 5 hours intensive Smarter English)
    • Teachers will deliver regular practice tests and will give academic tasks based on a variety of content so that students can familiarise themselves with the exam structure.
    • The language topics will also include formal/informal letters, business language and academic essays and reviews.
    • This course is suitable for students who want to obtain a worldwide English language qualification widely accepted by educational and business enterprises or for those who are looking to study the Cambridge CAE Exam Preparation course.

 

Teaching method:

  • Students are provided with course books
  • Lessons are based on the course book supplemented by a wide range of resources, including audio material and authentic texts. Daily lessons are followed by free short courses on alternation specific skills.

Course Outcomes

  • Pathway to Cambridge ESOL CAE or SMEAG Advanced Level

End of the course

  • At completion of the program, students will receive a SMEAG certificate of completion or participation based on attendance and assessment scores.

Cambridge CAE is a high-level qualification that has recently been accepted by the Australian Government for immigration purposes. The CAE course aims at preparing students to obtain one of the most prestigious qualifications that is widely sought after by employers and universities around the world. CAE can also be offered to dedicated students who want to fully immerse themselves in an intensive, in-depth course to enrich their English language skills.

    Cambridge CAE is an Advanced level exam designed to assess a student’s ability to:

  • provide a high-level of communication in English
  • follow an academic course at university level
  • confidently take part in workplace meetings or academic seminars
  • conduct complex research
  • express yourself with a high level of fluency
  • react responsively in a different cultural and social environment.
